Encompassing everything from black metal to straight-forward heavy metal, DEATH TRIBE’s debut, Beyond Pain and Pleasure: A Desert Experiment, captures the pain of living amid war-torn Beruit. Today, Metal Insider premieres a video for the track “Neurotic Breakdown” from the album.

Watch “Neurotic Breakdown” here: https://www.metalinsider.net/premieres/video-premiere-death-tribe-neurotic-breakdown.

Says DEATH TRIBE’s Anthony Kaoteon, “This track is complex, technical and intense, as it represents the stage in life when one realizes they were forced into this pit and left to deal with its atrocities. We don’t choose where we are born. Black, white, yellow, Arab or Jew, some of us are born in war torn countries, others in below-poverty areas. Even those born with a silver spoon in their mouth are still battling their own demons because everything is about perspective. However, most people don’t realize that, and the only way to escape reality is through substances that create an even more complex schizoid world that is out of control. We blame others, if not ourselves, and hate everyone and everything around us instead of accepting that we can influence change through our choices, accept ourselves and the differences of others. Hate feeds on hate. Start by accepting your reality and grow to accept others.”

Scarred by death, corruption and a multitude of atrocities supported by radical ideologies, Anthony Kaoteon has always been driven by challenges to hustle out of a cursed life and establish himself without prejudice or belonging. He decided not to accept the status quo and shaped his own fate.

The diversity of Beyond Pain and Pleasure: A Desert Experiment is truly a result of time and place.

Composed over the course of several years and several periods of war – Kaoteon pulled the album together after leaving Lebanon for the more peaceful deserts of Dubai.

Before 2019 there was nothing. Then in the beginning of 2019, somewhere in Lithuania, the horned entity calling himself simply as Hoofstomper ordered a few stray sinful souls (names and former lives of those souls are not important) to start creating music to gather more sinners under his wing. What came out of it was the first chapter of a story about fear, loss, disappointment, metamorphoses and acceptance, aptly named “Chapter I”. In this chapter, Hoofstomper meets a lonely runaway, running for his life, when he encounters a mysterious figure which offers him a shady deal to survive… All events of the story are accompanied by sounds of Black Metal fused with Deadbolt-ish Psychobilly, Dark Surf Rock and Dark Country.

The story now continues.

100-dogmas

OBSCURE was one of the first Death Metal bands formed at around the years ‘88/’89. The band’s core draws from the germ of a previous band, in which Enri Sanchis (drums), Voris Ortiz (guitar) and Rafa Cortés (guitar) decided to take a different path and start writing new songs. Vicent Riera would join later as a vocalist, to this first line-up. We record our first demo, “Disgusting Reality” at the end of ’89 and soon later asked Anselmo Roca (singer and guitar in AGGRESSOR) to cooperate in OBSCURE’s live shows playing the bass, but since AGGRESSOR did split-up, Anselmo remained as a permanent member of the band.

It was in October 1990 when the recording of our maybe most well-known demo “Curse the Course” started at Distorsión Hasta la Locura Studio. From then on, OBSCURE searched for more dense and powerful sounds by lower-tuned instruments and slower and heavier riffs, moving the sound of the band towards what is now known as Death Metal sound. The band appeared in several fanzines and underground publications together with emerging bands from that moment like Entombed, Gorefest, Unleashed, Grave, Darkthrone, My Dying Bride…

The band recorded their 3rd and last demo “Non Existendi Cultus” in ’92, our most elaborated work until then. At the same time, Voris left the band. The next two years several worrying events discouraged the rest of the band’s members (moving to different rehearsal rooms and job circumstances…). It took Vicent Riera and Anselmo Roca to start their own project and they leave the band as well. This meant the final dissolution of OBSCURE.

It must be mentioned the futile attempt to resurrect the band with other members in 2006, being a dismal failure.

In 2016 OBSCURE released “Back to Skull” through Xtreem Music, which collects the three band’s demos. The idea of gathering the band once again, but this time with the original members came up, which included some problems that were resolved with Xavier Beleth (Noctem) joining as vocalist.

In 2017, OBSCURE started to record their long-awaited full-length album “Darkness Must Prevail”, which took them two years to get it completed, containing both new and unreleased songs from 90’s. The album was mixed and mastered by Dan Swanö at Unisound Studios and will be released in November 2019 through Xtreem Music.

A few weeks after releasing a first single called “Organic Sacrifice”, Swiss psych-rock alchemists Dirty Sound Magnet just shared a second glance from their upcoming album with an official music video illustrating the song “USA, LSD, BNB, HIV” available right now:

Both tracks will feature on their forthcoming new full-length record called ‘Transgenic’ and coming out this fall for CD, LP & Digital on Hummus Records (Coilguns, Emilie Zoé, Louis Jucker, Closet Disco Queen…), Dox Records and Membran Entertainment Group.

…For the record…

Dirty Sound Magnet is a psychedelic rock power trio from Fribourg, Switzerland. To members Stavros Dzodzosz (guitar, lead vocals), Marco Mottolini (bass, backing vocals) and Maxime Cosandey (drums, backing vocals), their collective means so much more.

Dirty Sound Magnet is a lifelong pursuit built on a feverish, border-line-religious passion for music and a common set of guiding values and beliefs.

The three state it plainly: “there is no plan B”.  Their dedication is unconditional, unequivocal, and unavoidable. Not one of the members has been engaged in any side projects since the band’s formation a decade ago; Dirty Sound Magnet offers them a musical framework without any boundaries to their creative expression.

The band’s DNA can be traced back to the ancestral ‘Golden Age of Rock’ (60s, 70s), but it would be incorrect to think that DSM is…“retro”. The musicians are inspired by contemporary artists and modern production techniques, pushing the boundaries as they see fit. The results are personal, unique and original.

Simply put: the Dirty Sound Magnet experience is a mystical journey back to the future…

Estou me divertindo pra caramba!

No Triumph, o guitarrista gravou o excelente Edge of Excess, de 1992. Ele ainda participou do vídeo de “making of” do filme Josie e as Gatinhas, sucesso dos anos 2000.
